My name is Lauren Jones and I am a Certified Lactation Counselor. My goals are to create brave spaces for families to express and work through breastfeeding concerns, provide evidence-based lactation education, connect families to helpful and supportive local resources, help build community among families and ensure that families feel more informed, prepared and empowered as they venture through their birthing and breastfeeding journeys.
I am a Georgia native who has lived in Nashville since 2014. Since becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor through the Healthy Children Project in 2017, I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with families near and far on their breastfeeding journeys. I was first introduced to the birthing and prenatal world in 2015 while working at a prenatal yoga studio here in Nashville. This experience peaked my interest in the field, leading me to become a Nutrition Educator at WIC where I served the community and gained valuable in-person lactation support experience. After leaving WIC in 2019, I taught sex ed in schools, took a social work job, and continued serving families by providing lactation support in- person and virtually. In 2021, I joined the Nashville Breastfeeding Coalition and have enjoyed serving Nashville's larger breastfeeding community! Now, I support families through their breastfeeding journeys and run Realistically Fed full time! You can find me teaching free classes at our public libraries, hosting new moms groups in the community and offering home visiting services.
